This book marked a time that is quite typical in people’s lives: devastation, loss, hope, confusion, love and learning.

(Finding the End of May)

There was a delicate rumble
when we all turned our heads

A pacifist grin on smoke-laden chins

Our paradise found to be far beyond dead
as through blazing heaven we tumbled

Gracious hosts alone on Fear Mountain
we lost our lunches that afternoon

In a dirty day we came clean away
to eat burned dreams with a rusted spoon
make love in the sprays of Youth Fountain

It all went somewhere fun
Making joyful gestures and character flaws
in a parade of rain with experience stains
on rum-soaked bakery bear claws

There is a catch in the sun.
