Through the entire month of December (and most of November), the spirit of the season fills Danish hearts and homes with glad tidings of great joy, creating light and warmth throughout the cold dark Nordic winters. And the celebrations aren't limited to just one day.

There’s nothing quite like the fall colors in the great Pacific Northwest. While the outer beauty is one of my favorite parts of the season, there is also a shift internally as well. I look forward to this time of year because it feels like a great time to let go of things that just aren’t worth holding on to anymore.

This summer's obsessions looks a little different than some of my other posts about what I’m loving lately, but there’s a simple reason for that: I’ve been incredibly busy working on my business!

I made a choice today to allow my son to have his feelings, to choose for himself, to be empowered, but I had not given myself the same option. I chose to blow off some of those tasks to sit and watch cheesy George Lucas one-liners with my kid, but I still felt bad about it. Until I realized that I needed the same grace and empathy for myself.
You might be wondering what there is to enjoy during this time of year. Well, my wintery obsessions consist of a land literally named for its darkness and gloom, films set in the coldest of temps, and discovering all the magic nature can offer if we’re willing to embrace it.
Everything old is new again. Of course, classics never really die, as is the case with one of the greatest sitcoms of all time, or quirky, ugly-cute German footwear. This season, I’m getting super nostalgic with all the ways to enjoy what was once, uh, classic.
When you have no air in your lungs, crying out for help is impossible. But it takes a hell of a lot of strength to endure its weight; the patience required to let it ride out, to get back up, even though your legs have gone numb and you’re still catching your breath.
By creating something better, I live a good story. I can share my story with others, inspire them to live and share theirs too.
Why do we tend to think of ourselves as struggling, mediocre imposters? We do things with trepidation, wanting to fall into conventional and social norms, afraid of being too different or outrageous or idealistic. We stop ourselves before anyone else gets the chance.
